There has never been a better time to be a loving family new kids movies. The proliferation of streaming services like Netflix, Peacock, Disney +, Paramount +, Apple TV +, and HBO Max means there are plenty of studios clamoring for new, interesting movies to keep families entertained – and streaming them at home means they are even easier to watch. Or, if you’re a family that appreciates the cinematic experience, 2022 looks to be even better than 2021 when it comes to the number of movies in theaters. The best children’s movies of 2022 should amaze you with their animation, delight you with their great adventures, make you dance to their original songs and, of course, laugh at all their silly jokes. And we can’t wait!

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Release date: January 14, 2022

Pushed back from last Halloween, the most recent Hotel Transylvania the movie really turns things around: Dr Van Helsig invents a machine that turns monsters into people and turns Johnny into a monster! They have to find a way to go back before they get stuck this way. It will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

The king’s daughter

Release date: January 21, 2022

This family adventure film has it all: secret princesses, mermaids and … King Louis XIV? The king wants the mermaid’s life force to reach immortality, but a young woman, who has family ties to the king, wants to save the creature. It will be in theaters in January.

Turn red

Release date: March 11, 2022

The first Disney movie of the year is courtesy of Pixar. It follows a 13-year-old girl, Mei Lee, who suffers from a rare disease: whenever she gets too aroused or emotional, she transforms into a giant red panda. (So. Awkward.) And while it’s coming from Disney, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be on Disney + right away – you have to visit the theater.

Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore

Release date: April 15, 2022

The third Fantastic beasts The movie sees some changes – Mads Mikkelson replaces Johnny Depp as villainous Gellert Grindelwald – but Newt Scamandar is still the same Newt. In it, Dumbledore sends him and his friends on a mission that leads them on the way to Grindelwald’s army.

Only they are fed up with being bad, so they try to live their life in a dynamic way for a change. The voice cast includes Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina Anthony Ramos, Marc Maron, and Craig Robinson, so there’s a lot of comedic talent in there.

DC League of Super-Pets

Release date: May 20, 2022

Uh-oh – the Justice League is in trouble! It’s up to Krypto, Superman’s dog, to convince other overworked animals to help him. He reaches out to Ace the dog, PB the pot-bellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel to form their own heroic team. Dwayne Johnson embodies the voice of Krypto.

Bob’s Burgers movie

Release date: May 27, 2022

The Belchers are heading to the big screen! And although we don’t know much about the plot of this film, there is one big draw: it’s a musical! At San Diego Comic-Con, creator Loren Bouchard described it as “a musical, a comedy, a mystery, an adventure and a kind of coming-of-age story,” and assured the fans than it would be in theaters.

No no this Buzz Lightyear – except sort of. This film follows the adventures of the real Space Ranger character who inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy in Toy story. “In the Toy story universe, it would be like a movie that Andy might have seen, that would have made him want a Buzz Lightyear action figure, ”director Angus MacLane told Deadline. It hits theaters on Father’s Day weekend, for all Toy story dads there.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Release date: July 1, 2022

Poor Minions Fans: This movie was slated for release in July 2020 and has been pushed back two years so far. And while things are never guaranteed, it looks like it will finally hit theaters in the summer of 2022, followed by a run on Peacock a few months later. When it comes out, it will follow Gru back to the ’70s, when he begins his ascent to wickedness, and how he crosses the path of the Minions.

Secret headquarters

Release date: August 12, 2022

Owen Wilson and Michael Peña star in this film, about a superhero who has a lair hidden under a child’s house. When attacked, the kid and his friends have to defend themselves. It is based on an original script by The Mandalorian‘s Christopher Yost – it’s not from a comic book, or YA novel, or TV show, so the plot should come as a surprise.

White bird: a wonderful story

Release date: September 16, 2022

White bird, on the other hand, is based on a bestselling novel by RJ Palacio, author of the hit hit Wonder. White bird takes place in the same universe as Wonder, following the Auggie-class tyrant’s grandmother, Julian, through her experiences as a Jewish girl in occupied France during World War II. Helen Mirren plays the role of Grandmother.

The puss in boots: the last wish

Release date: September 23, 2022

It’s been over a decade since we last checked out Puss In Boots, but he’s still up for it. In this, the well-shod feline has torn most of his nine lives apart, so he goes on a mission to find a wish that can put them back together.

Hocus pocus 2

Release date: Fall 2022

Okay, admit it: who lit the black flame candle? The Sanderson sisters are back – as are stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy – for a sequel to their 1993 classic. It will go straight to Disney +.

This animated adaptation of Super Mario comes with a great cast: Chris Pratt is Mario, Charlie Day is Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy is Princess Peach, and they will star alongside comedians Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen and Fred Armisen, among others. It also comes from directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic of Teen Titans Go!, so expect a lot of huge laughs.
